Inverted nipple correction

This surgical procedure helps improve nipple protrusion. The surgery can be performed on both men and women.

Men choose this surgery for aesthetic reasons, while inverted nipples can cause many problems for breastfeeding mothers. Only when conservative nipple correction techniques cannot be used, should surgery be offered to the patient. This surgery aims to eliminate the inversion of the nipple.

Process

The surgery is performed using local anaesthetics. Depending on the degree of inversion of the nipple, different surgical nipple correction techniques may be used. The surgery lasts for approximately 30 minutes. Wounds are sutured with a melting yarn, which does not need to be removed. After surgery, the patient does not need to remain in the hospital and can go home.

Results

Following inverted nipple correction women can continue to breastfeed their babies. However, in case of Grade 3 inverted nipples, breastfeeding is likely to be affected.

Recommendations
